After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, Dr. Carlsen earned her Doctorate of Medicine from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Carlsen then completed her fellowship training in Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatry at Brown University’s Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. During her fellowship, she served as chief resident and also received the honor of a peer service award.
Recognizing that there is no separation between the body and mind, Dr. Carlsen pursued additional training in both functional medicine and integrative psychiatry. She completed a rigorous training program in functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine (ifm.org) and a two year fellowship in Integrative Psychiatry through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute/University of Colorado School of Medicine.
